All year we have prepared ourselves, our teams and our stores for Black Friday and the upcoming Holiday season. Now that Black Friday has come and gone I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you.
Zumiez was founded on the idea of "working hard & giving back" - and that is exactly what this district has done. Whether that meant working an open to close, late night floor moves, helping out at other stores, traveling for meetings, developing meetings, providing great customer service on the sales floor and so much more.... this district pulled together like never before and took aggressive actions with a great attitude.
I am so proud of every one of you - I feel extremely lucky to be able to work with so many great (and unique) individuals. Thank you again for all of your hard work, I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish this Holiday.

Punk'd but certainly not a punk! We love Marie!!

The team at 666 is dedicated to working hard and giving back. This phrase can be interpreted in many different ways. In this case working hard and giving back meant a bit of preparation, a bit of talent and a lot of laughing all at Marie's expense.

At a recent national event Marie and myself were blowing up balloons for an introduction. We determined we would need a lot of balloons - so we bought a few hundred and went to work. Shortly afterwards I found Maries phone sitting on a counter. I decided to put the phone in a balloon and blow it up. Once it was secure I tossed the balloon into the pile of hundreds. A little later we decided to give her phone a call.

Pretty classic moment watching Marie dig through all the balloons trying to find her cellie!

It was all in good fun - and Marie, of course, took it like a champ! It is nice to know that every once in a while we can pull a fast one on our fearless leader!

035 Pre-Season Team Bonding

Today, some of the team members from our staff decided to spend some quality time pre-season team bonding. After some complications with baby blessings, and police officers Jen, Will, Alex and I got body and mind prepared for some bonding time. Once we were G'ed up we were on our way.

HOLIDAY BEST PRACTICE MEETING!!

This is a great opportunity to compete for the number one team. While striving to break district records you will learn ways to manage your team, drive your teams to SMAC, and shortcuts to help you maximize your productivity with selling and product!


WHO: All NEW 1st assistant managers and ALL 2nd assistant managers!

WHAT: First annual Sixty Six Sicks Holiday best practice meeting

WHEN: Sunday November 7th

WHERE: University Mall in Orem, UT

WHY: To have the most successful Holiday season, while selling as much as we can to as many people as we can

HOW: 1) All store managers need to contact Kristin Buckley via email by Monday November 2nd with the list of candidates from their store and why these managers should attend this meeting.
2) Once we get the list from the store managers on Monday, Jen and Kristin will come up with a final class list and send out invitations so you know what country you are playing for in the X-treme world breaking records challenge! and give you more of a low down on the theme of the class and costumes.
3) All attendees must write out 5 “best practices” for each zone of the store. (front zone, club promoter, middle zone, cashier, snow tech, skate tech, back zone, shoe runner, and opening and closing) Homework will be due by November 6th (if emailed from store, must be emailed our on 11/05)

The theme is Extreme-Breaking world records wherever we go. At the meeting you will be competing with teams from across the entire district (world). We will be awarding points for records broken and great ideas to compete for the world record holding team of the 666.

We all depend on our 2nd assistants to MANAGE our store during peak season. It is them who open early and close late, it is them who complete email projects and set the store up for success at night.

This meeting is going to be held in just over a week, it is up to all store managers and assistants who would like the opportunity to attend to get back all needed information in a timely manner. Let the X-treme challenge begin!!!

Yeah ya hurrrd. 236 sold the 1st board of the season today. With or without the product in the store we managed to get our hustle on and get one out the door. Yessss. only 10 left to hit LY. I think its game on!

# 8 - The Wow! hired a new 1st Assistant Manager named Preston!! Cha Ching!
# 7 - 145 received a great secret shopper evaluation!
# 6 - Jacob Taylor is joining the 666 team as a 1st Assistant Manager at 030!
# 5 - Alex from 035 hustling to every customer during his first shift!
# 4 - Kaya ending with $75 DPT and 3.00 UPT on her first shift!
# 3 - Receiving emails from infected Zumiez peeps for this years snow virus!
# 2 - 666 ran up 3.72% on Wednesday!
# 1 - Seeing all the great customer service and interaction across the district...

Today the artist formerly known as Chasey "F" Baby and I held a phone interview with a candidate applying for a second assistant position. This candidate told me that she had quite a bit in common with Chasey "F" Baby. I laughed and asked her if that meant she was going to challenge me to a rap battle. She agreed. Although we actually never got the rap battle we did have some fun. I told her that Chasey "F" Baby tries to rap like Lil' Wayne. She told me he was more like Napoleon Dynamite with some rap skills. At that point the artist formerly known as Chasey "F" Baby took upon his new identity....

The Last Supper

Yesterday was Andy's last day of work at 026. He is going to be heading to Idaho Falls this week to find a new place to call home.

The team in Boise wanted to go out to dinner one last time to say goodbye to 2 Tuff. We are going to miss you Andrew! I am so proud of you, and know that you are going to be the greatest store manager. 045 is lucky to be getting a piece of the Andrew pie!

Here's a few facts about the newest Store Managers from the Sixty-Six Sicks...

Andrew is the new store manager of Idaho Falls (045)

- Andrew recently attended the RAPtember event in Seattle, Washington

- He has received the AMOP & Axel 3 periods this year

- Andrew is the 2nd highest salesperson in the district YTD

- He rides his bike everywhere.... he may even ride it to Idaho Falls!

- Andrew picked up the nickname "Tommy 2 Tuff" because he is 2 Tuff for everything

- He is originally from California - but has come to love the gem state

Ben is the new store manager of Logan, Utah (063)

- Ben is a traitor..... down with the 651, but for reals we are going to miss you!

- He recently attended the RAPtember event where he placed 2nd in the teach-off!

- Ben started at Layton as a sales associate and has worked his way up!

- He was a top snow sales person in the company last year

- Ben picked up the nickname "Mr. Perfect" because he is never wrong

- He is a snowboard and skateboard guru even vacationing the skate parks in Vegas this year

I am excited to see these two individuals step into their stores and work hard, give back and empower those around them! Growth is truly the foundation of Zumiez... growth personally and professionally. Their growth could also create opportunities for your growth - as we are now interviewing for 1st AM positions in 026 & 030!!

District Name!!

It is time for another vote! The managers of the Sixty-Six Sicks all got to be in on the first round of voting for a new district name, but I wanted to open it up to the public, and get the opinions of everyone out there on this, so we can have the best district name there is.

Option #1 - Keep our name the same! The Sixty-Six Sicks, and oldie but a goodie.
Option #2 - Salty Spuds (Salt Lake City and Idaho)
Option #3 - Stagg & Buck Plus 8
Option #4 - Wildcard - you come up with the new name for us and we will throw it into the vote.

Me and Mase

As some of you may know, Mason Aguirre has been my only snowboard "pro ho" obsession, and this relationship has lasted for quite some time now.

Mason and I have had the chance to hang out several times now, at 100K twice, AMC, the Vans Cup in Tahoe, I mean, the list of exotic places goes on and on. It is how we keep our relationship fresh and new.

I have a stong belief that at this most recent AMC, Mason may have finally fallen for me, due to the RAP attire and talents on the mic. I was really puttin the vibe out, if you will.

I have posted some pictures here so you can all see us as a happy couple. Even though Mase is younger then me, we have a really strong connection. I just wanted to take the time to introduce all of you to my future husband.

The Sixty-Six Sicks at RAPtember!!

As many of you know the Sixty-Six Sicks unofficially changed the name of the Rocktember event to RAPtember. With this name change we decided to crash the Tron Party as OG's (you know, Original Gangsters).

Overall, the event went off without a hitch. We began our plan for Holiday, learned more about the business, discussed 100k, updated Z-Hire, modified daily/weekly emails and of course.... had a lot of fun!

We performed at the highest level as well. Andrew made it all the way to the semi-finals and Ben placed 2nd in the AMC teach off. Buckley attended Leadership 3, Marci and Duscha created a district focus around TAP RAP, The WOW!, Jen and Pbiz created a best practice focus and the rest of the crew set a recruiting campaign in motion.

All in all, we had a blast and cant wait to run crazy sales gains during Holiday!
